About CAD

The California Association of the Deaf (CAD), operated of, by, and for the Deaf Community, advocates and promotes the quality of life and social welfare of deaf people by:

• Empowering deaf individuals to exercise self-determination and independence necessary to lead productive lives in the greater community.
• Ensuring equal opportunities for social, educational, and employment fulfillment.
• Advocating for and protecting our rights to functionally equivalent and accessible services.
• Recognizing American Sign Language (ASL) as a formal language.
• Preserving and respecting our culture and heritage.
